The Hilton Head Blue Lady – Paranormal Activity On Hilton Head Island
Dec 22nd, 2009 by admin

most haunted series

The spirit of the Hilton Head Blue Lady roams the Island in a Victorian era blue dress — a recurring example of paranormal activity on the Island.  In 1898, a young woman named Caroline lost her life to a hurricane off the east coast.

The Hilton Head Blue Lady

Keeps Watch Over Palmetto Dunes

Residents of Harbour Town and environs are no strangers to this story of paranormal activity and haunted places.  It is one of the true scary stories associated with Hilton Head Island.  In spite of all of the recent modernization, the island has an abundance of ghost stories.

Lovers’ Lane

Just by the Leamington area in Palmetto Dunes, down a winding dirt road, there once stood a lighthouse and its accessory keeper’s house.  Both houses were abandoned by the United States Light Service when the light was automated.  But one of the inhabitants never left.

It was a balmy summer evening.  In search of a secluded spot for some private romance, a young couple pointed their car down the old access road, long deserted.  What they encountered instead was paranormal activity in the person of the Blue Lady. As the couple embraced in their car the moon rose seductively over the Atlantic.  The balmy night air and sound of the waves hitting the beach had a mesmerizing effect.

Suddenly they saw it.  A chill ran down their spine when a soft, bluish light caught their eye.  Transfixed they watched it floating through the light keeper’s house behind darkened windows.  Suddenly the glowing figure appeared on the front porch of the old house and gazed at them with mournful eyes. The figure of a young woman was adorned in a beautiful Victorian dress.  It was exactly like the dress that Caroline Fripp was said to have worn the night of her death in the hurricane of 1898.

All thought of romance now vanished and the couple quickly retreated from the scene leaving the haunted house in their rear view mirror.  Next day they reported to their parents and not long after a small group of adults decided to check out the lighthouse for themselves.  They didn’t have to wait long before the Hilton Head Blue Lady materialized, just as the youngsters had reported.

Today the location at Palmetto Dunes has been transformed by a world famous golf course and the haunted house has been relocated to Harbour Town near CQ’s Restaurant. The stories of these haunted places associated with the Hilton Head Blue Lady have several variations.  There are reports of sobbing and some claim to have sensed her presence.  But many believe the Blue Lady has been laid to rest and paranormal activity ceased since the haunted house was moved.

Howl Aboard! Let a Spooky Halloween Train Ride Spirit You Away
Dec 22nd, 2009 by admin

most haunted series

Booo… chooo… chooooooo… there’s an eerie express on the horizon… it’s a haunted Halloween train ride… trolling down a track near you!

Halloween train rides are super, natural choices for celebrating the year’s spookiest season. Trains are as varied as the ghosts that haunt them, from quaint narrow-gauge steam trains to diesel-powered streamliners. Pumpkin trains head out into sun-baked fields, their passengers in pursuit of the perfect jack-o-lantern. Party trains assemble a masked mob of witches, warlocks, super heroes and storybook characters to compete for best costume prizes. Night trains venture down isolated rail beds and through shadowy landscapes lit only by the light of the moon.

Among the range of Halloween themed trains, trick-or-treating and haunted house excursions are favorites. Unique rides featuring on-train dining and murder mystery performances are not uncommon. And pick-your-own-pumpkin excursions are always full. In any event, costumes are always encouraged.

Conjuring up a Halloween train ride event in your area doesn’t require a lot of hocus pocus. Scenic and heritage railways offering hosting Spook-tacular celebrations can be found in dozens of states. The 2009 guide to Halloween train rides (http://www.traintraveling.com/events/halloween-trains), posted on TrainTraveling.com, features an extensive list of such railways.

Western U.S.A.

Hollywood-style magic cranks up the Halloween mojo at railways across the Western U.S.

Among the country’s dozens of pumpkin trains, Peanuts™ The Great Pumpkin Patch Express Train events are standouts. Both, the Texas State Railroad and Colorado’s Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad host Great Pumpkin trains. Highlights include meet and greet opportunities with Peanuts stars Charlie Brown, Lucy and Snoopy — plus train rides and the chance to choose a pumpkin straight from the patch (the Peanuts crew makes an additional appearance in North Carolina, see below).

In California, the “Home of the Movie Trains” stages a blockbuster Halloween bash. The Golden State’s Fillmore & Western Railway rounds out its Headless Horseman excursions with an old-fashioned hay ride and BBQ feast.

Not for the faint of heart, Idaho’s Thunder Mountain Line plays host to the scary Wild West Haunted Express; destination: nowhere! After sunset, Utah’s Heber Valley Railroad disappears into the haunted recesses of Provo Canyon.

Midwestern U.S.A.

Railways across America’s heartland treat Halloween merrymakers to a cauldron of dire delights and frightful fun.

There’s fun for everyone at the Walled Lake Scenic Railway. The Michigan railway’s age-appropriate Halloween calendar features scary Moonlight Ghost Trains for adults and older kids, plus nightmare-free Hobo Halloween Express Trains for the little ones. Across the state, ghosts and goodies are in store for visitors to the Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad, in Flint. Doughnuts, cider and more await trick-or-treating train passengers who make their way door-to-door through the 19th century heritage site.

The Midwest Central Railroad’s Ghost Train of No Return shares billing with Old Threshers’ Midwest Electric Railway’s Ghostly Trolley to offer Iowans a night of Haunted Rails. When the Indiana Railway Museum rolls out its Legend of the Lost Train event, goblins chase the French Lick Scenic Railway’s train through a ghostly forest and into a haunted tunnel.

Southern U.S.A.

For Halloween train lovers across the Southern U.S., North Carolina’s Blue Ridge holds the charm, with celebrations hosted by two separate mountain railroads. At the Smoky Mountain Railroad, Charlie Brown and the gang will be on board The Great Pumpkin Patch Express to welcome Halloween merrymakers who come for train rides, hay rides and to take home a pumpkin.

The Blue Ridge is also home to what is, arguably, America’s premiere spooky-season destination: the Tweetsie Railroad Ghost Train Halloween Festival. The month-long event attracts enthusiastic crowds with a range of attractions including train rides, a haunted house, a “freaky forest” and much more!

In Kentucky, Big South Fork Scenic Railway runs both Haunted Hollow Express Trains for big kids and Trick or Treat Trains for tots.

Northeastern U.S.A.

Railways in the Northeast U.S. offer up a range of chilling choices.

Big Apple residents and visitors need only hop a Metro North train to Sleepy Hollow where a string of pre-Halloween events celebrate the Headless Horseman. From Boston, Salem-bound MBTA Commuter Rail passengers get to join in the town’s month-long Haunted Happenings celebrations.

Rolling over track that crosses the site of a former cemetery, the Connecticut Trolley Museum’s Rails to the Darkside takes passengers on a scary ride into the night. A daytime Pumpkin Patch Train gives folks the chance to select a pumpkin fresh from the field.

New Jersey’s Black River & Western Railroad is home to the Crazy Train Maze at Pumpkin Junction, a Halloween triple-play that combines a train ride with opportunities to buy a pumpkin and to get lost in a 10-acre pumpkin field maze — accessible only by train. In Maryland, the Walkersville Southern Railroad transforms its popular Murder Mystery Dinner Train into an adult’s only Halloween Costume Party on wheels.

Ready to Go

Halloween events calendars vary with a number of railways limiting Halloween trips to the last weekend in October. Many, however — including those highlighted in the preceding paragraphs — host special Halloween events on selected days throughout the month. The TrainTraveling.com website features a complete 2009 guide to Halloween train rides (http://www.traintraveling.com/events/halloween-trains).

Not all trains are appropriate for all ages and some Halloween events may be deemed too frightening for younger children. Check with individual railways in advance to verify age restrictions and warnings. In cases of inclement weather, train ride events incorporating outdoor activities, may be altered, postponed or cancelled. Advance reservations are generally advisable and required in many instances. Remember to dress appropriately: many Halloween trains operate at higher altitudes or after sunset in conditions where colder temperatures may prevail.

Real Ghosts – Were they summoned by “The Curse Of Savannah” To Haunt The City?
Dec 9th, 2009 by admin

most haunted series

Real ghosts, haunted places and paranormal activity make the sleepy southern town of Savannah, Georgia “America’s Most Haunted City.” Is there really a “Curse of Savannah” to explain all of this?

Is it Hoodoo

or something more sinister?

There are many mysterious happenings and ghost stories related to the Curse of Savannah.  It seems like a haunted house with real ghosts is lurking around almost every shadowy corner. There are countless true scary stories that the locals will swear by.

Ghostly shrouds of Spanish moss cascading from mighty oaks everywhere

and the balmy southern air create an eerie atmosphere in Savannah.  Here the tales of mystery seem larger than life (death?).

Stories of the Curse of Savannah date to initial settlement and perhaps farther back to a time when missionaries, buccaneers, and American natives inhabited the coast.  A number of the nation’s bloodiest battles were fought on Savannah soil, including the Siege of Savannah during the American Revolution.  1,200 men were killed in one hour – only Bunker Hill had more casualties.

Plague, fire, and hurricanes have devastated the city, leaving in their wake a  legacy of death and dismay. Stories of real ghosts are woven into the history of Savannah to such an extent that it is difficult to separate the real from the surreal.

A City Built On The Dead

Savannah was founded in 1733 by General James Oglethorpe and is Georgia’s  oldest city.  The City was built initially on an Indian burial ground known as Yamacraw Bluffs.  As settlers were struck down by Yellow Fever or other unfortunate events, the cemeteries filled rapidly.

Businesses and homes were forced to expand onto the ground where the dead lay resting, as the city grew.  Some bodies were disinterred and buried elsewhere, but many were not.  Could it be these restless spirits that haunt the city?

The Hoodoo Doctor

The story is told of a former slave and alleged Hoodoo doctor called Mathias. Having obtained his freedom, Mathias planned to infiltrate an estate posing as a slave in order to guide the slaves north to freedom via the Underground Railroad.

On a cool November night in 1859 Mathias made his move.  To protect their escape he provided each slave with a mojo bag. However, one slave refused the offer and threatened to expose the plan, so Mathias killed him.  Twelve slaves escaped, but Mathias was caught and thrown in jail.

Witnesses claimed Matthias was hung in his cell, but the sheriff swore he was killed in the act of attempted escape.  Many believe that Matthias cursed the city in revenge and summoned the many real ghosts that have haunted Savannah ever since.

HAUNTED HISTORICAL OCALA VICTORIAN MANSION & ANTIQUE SHOP CONTENTS TO BE AUCTIONED SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3RD AT 10AM
Dec 9th, 2009 by admin

Florida Auctioneers Charles Fudge of Professional Appraisers and Liquidators of Crystal River & Kale Albritton of Lakeland Will Liquidate the Contents of Upstairs Downstairs Antique Gallery on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 10am Along With the Late 1890’s Victorian House, Which is Rumored to be Haunted.

Ocala, FL, October 1 2009 – This Saturday, will be an important day for Antique Collectors, Dealers, curiosity seekers, and ghost hunters alike when a Crystal River auction firm liquidates the contents of Upstairs, Downstairs Antique Galleria at 725 E. Silver Springs Blvd in Ocala Florida beginning at 10am. Besides over $200,000 worth of antiques that will cross the auction block, the 1885 Victorian Mansion zoned for commercial use, which is rumored to be haunted, will also be auctioned. This is the second “haunted” historical building in the Fort King district to be auctioned during the last year.

The Historic District of Ocala is an important spot on the map for those interested in all things paranormal. Sci-Fi Channel’s Television Show “TAPS Ghost Hunters” featured The Seven Sisters Inn on an episode last year. Ocala Ghost Walks, a local firm offerning walking and carriage tours of the district, features several historical buildings in the Fort King area including Seven Sisters and the Ritz Historic Inn. The ghost tour owner, Catherine Wendell said, “The hauntings throughout the area seem to be in clusters of 2 or 3 houses near each other, with no rhyme or reason”. The former Upstairs Downstairs Antique shop building is an important stop on their tour.

When Professional Appraisers & Liquidators was hired to liquidate both the contents and Victorian building at 725 E Silver Springs Blvd, they were told that the painting of a gentleman, circa 1840s, that was hanging in the shop was NOT for sale. The owner stipulated that it “went with the house” and would be given to the person who purchases the Victorian seven-bedroom mansion. Why? Because it seems that strange occurances seem to happen whenever that painting is moved.

Auctioneer Charles Fudge stated, “The comment about the painting sparked our interest as to the history of the building”. His firm’s research led them to an Ocala firm that had investigated the mysterious occurances in June, 2009 and posted audio and video of their overnight surveillance of the Victorian home on their website. According to a spokesman for American Paranormal Project Inc, the not for profit volunteer based organization, made up of citizens, each with unique backgrounds who have an interest in the paranormal, “It is truly one of the most haunted places I’ve seen”. Besides their findings of EVPs and ENPs, they heard footsteps upstairs while the entire team was “locked down” on the first floor. He also said that “something” besides a member of their team turned a light on during their overnight investigation.

Whether you’ve always dreamed of owning a Victorian Home, which happens to be commercially zoned in a high traffic area, or you’d just like to own a building that has been “verified” as haunted, now is your chance. The building will be auctioned at noon to the highest bidder (upon owner’s approval). If a haunted house is out of your price range, then you still might want to take home some of the fine antiques that will be auctioned from 10am until about 5pm. Who knows? Maybe one of the antiques you purchase will bring a spirit along with it. And you’ll have it home just in time for Halloween.

An Inconvenient Spirit: Selling Your Haunted House
Dec 7th, 2009 by admin

most haunted series

Selling a haunted house is a difficult proposition if the ghosts are particularly noisy or violent. Many home buyers eschew atmosphere for the dull life of the bright house or bungalow untenanted by a disturbed spirit. Therefore, fixing up your house to sell may involve various preparations to reduce the impact of ghosts, spirits, otherworldly emanations and other supernatural phenomena.

Exorcism is one method of ridding oneself of a nuisance supernatural presence. However, it could be seen as discrimination and “supernaturalism”, which could lead to the ghost’s right to seek legal redress. Be aware that through adverse possession processes, the spirit may actually have legal rights to the house and mediation (as well as a medium) may be in order to resolve the conflict.

One must be sensitive to the fact that many ghosts come from diverse religious belief systems that would make using a priest from a Christian background extremely offensive. More importantly, it may not work if there is a lack of belief. In the case of an atheist ghost, you may have to resort to a copy of “The Origin of Species” to help form your exorcism rite.

Do not despair if exorcism does not work or, in the interests of equality, is not an option. There are other routes for the home seller with an inconvenient spirit. Many spirits are open to communication, but steps may have to be made to accommodate them. Rapping on the walls, table or doors may be the only mode of communication a spirit has and it is imperative to take all necessary steps to aid the corporeally-challenged in their quest for equal access to communication. It may help to engage the services of someone versed in Morse Code, as “yes” and “no” may not be precise enough to convey the particulars of a ghost’s concerns.

Try to have a seance with the ghost and attempt to impress upon it the importance of not creating an uncomfortable atmosphere until the sale is concluded. Mention the fact that if the house is not sold quickly, a reputation very quickly develops that makes it difficult to find buyers, not to mentioned the easily possessed or precocious children. If you can, have a copy of current real estate laws and related information for the specter to peruse; ensure that it knows that “pre-approved” does not mean “sold” and that it is wise to refrain from frightening new owners until it is certain that the house is transferred fully into their possession.

If the spirit is resistant to all forms of communication and/or exorcism, extreme steps must be taken. If the house is exceptionally well-appointed and in a smallish community with low crime called “Sunnyvale” or “Friendlyville”, there will usually be no problem finding a couple from the big city seeking a nice house in the suburbs or a bedroom community for their children and dog. The only problem with this strategy is that you will probably have to lower the price to some ridiculously low amount that would make any other home buyer suspicious. Don’t worry. The family from the city probably won’t even have a home inspection done.

What to Do in Case of Haunting?
Dec 4th, 2009 by admin

most haunted series

The haunting of premises or environments is caused by negative vibrations and energies residing there such as those of ghosts and departed ancestors.

Spiritual research has revealed that most houses around the world have some form of negative vibrations. These negative vibrations can be caused by a number of factors such as:

• The residents in the premises – are they doing any spiritual practice? If yes, does it conform to the five basic principles in spiritual practice http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org/spiritualresearch/happiness/spirituality/basicpricinples_spirituality_d.php ? What is their psychological profile?

• The premises – The type of construction, cleanliness of the house, the items in the house and their placement, etc. The plot of land that the house has been built on and the surrounding area – is it located in a spiritually conducive area or an area laden with negative, distressing energies?

• The purpose for which the premises is being used.

The Spiritual Science Research Foundation (SSRF) conducted research on some haunted houses/premises through the medium of ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) or an advanced sixth sense. Here are some results of this research:

1. In 50% of cases the haunting is due to the spiritual level of the residents, for eg. if the residents have a lot of personality defects such as anger, greed, addictions etc. they would attract ghosts or departed ancestors who have similar personality defects.

2. Up to 30% is based on the purpose for what the premises is being used. i.e. it could be used for tamasik purposes such as indulging in addictions, tamasik music such as techno or rave, etc. which can attract ghosts to the premises. The principle to remember here is simple and Universal: Like attracts alike. Good attracts good and bad attracts bad.

3. Up to 10% depends on the premises itself such as hospitals where many have died unnatural deaths, or jails where inmates have been tortured to death.

4. Up to 6% is due to other factors

5. Up to 2% is due to the plot of land

6. And the remaining 2% is due to the surroundings eg. a cemetery or graveyard nearby.Acknowledging the fact the House or Premises is haunted

Most people never realize till it is too late that there are distressing vibrations in their premises. This is because they are themselves affected by the subtle black energy of ghosts. They therefore do not perceive the presence of ghosts, departed ancestors nor the negative vibrations. The presence of a subtle black energy covering (on an average 4 cm.) over most people and lack of sixth sense makes them insensitive to the subtle distress due to the presence of ghosts.

This can be understood by the analogy of how medical personnel do not pick up or are not disturbed by the smell of medicines and disinfectant that permeates a hospital setting. So also those with an established covering of black energy feel good when raja-tama activities are abundant in the premises. What are the measures one can take to overcome haunting and negative vibrations in the premises?

Spiritual healing measures such as:

• Sprinkling of Holy water etc. http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org/spiritualresearch/spiritualhealing/incensesticks/usingholywater.php

• Lighting SSRF incense sticks

are extremely effective and tried and tested tools to reduce spiritual negativity in the premises. These healing measures have increased potency when done with devotion, spiritual emotion along with one’s regular spiritual practice.

There are various other remedies for the spiritual cleansing of premises with varying percentages of importance such as:

• Spiritual practice of residents in the premises – 30%

• The pleasing personalities of the residents – 30%

• Rituals performed to cleanse the premises on and off or on a regular basis -14%

• Visits by Saints to the premises -10%

• Keeping the doors and windows of the premises open -2%

• Miscellaneous – growing the holy basil plant – tulsi -10%

Summary:

Only spiritual practice that conforms to the 5 basic principles of Spirituality is a sustainable way to eradicate a ghost from the premises. The probability of an average exorcist/sorcerer/ psychic being able to remove ghosts is very low.

To learn more about these and more such effective measures to cleanse one’s home or premises of a haunting visit our website at: http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org/spiritualresearch/difficulties/Ghosts_Demons/spirituallycleansinghome.php

Marketing a Haunted House: Putting Spirit in Your Sales Pitch
Oct 13th, 2009 by admin

most haunted series

Sellers are finding it difficult to attract buyers in this time of economic uncertainty and tougher mortgage standards. But what if you have a little something special that none of your neighbors have, like something that goes bump in the night? If your home is plagued with houseguests of the undead kind, you face a unique challenge in trying to sell.

Houses where suicides and murders have taken place are generally avoided by the average home buyer. The grim history of the house can scare away a great number of people who are afraid that bad mojo may still be lingering. So what do you do if you hear noises, feel spontaneous cold breezes, or see ectoplasm oozing from power sockets?

Hiding your “houseghost” from potential buyers won’t get you very far, especially if the haunting is common knowledge in the community. In terms of your legal obligation to disclose a haunting, responsibilities vary by state. Either way, if you try to keep this vital information from a buyer, not only may they try to sue you later, but your karma will be shot as well. It’s best if you’re straight with people about the condition of your home, both structurally and spiritually.

You may ask, “But if I’m honest about the house, how on earth are we ever going to sell it?”

The answer is good marketing.

Like with any property, you need to appeal to a target market. Ask yourself who would want your particular home. Certainly it has desirable qualities like a good location or granite countertops, but what sets your house apart from the rest of the neighborhood? It’s a resident ghoul or goblin! Use this to your advantage and try to attract buyers who are dying to live with the dead.

While it may seem strange to some, there is a niche market out there for haunted real estate. There are even websites that host ads from buyers who are eager to break bread with a spirit. These sites provide a great opportunity to network with buyers who are looking for a home just like yours. You can reply to a buyer’s post if it sounds like a good fit, or post an ad of your own in the sellers’ section.

Note, if you can produce proof that you have an apparition, your home will be a hot commodity on the haunted realty circuit, so keep your camera handy!

Another way to get the attention of haunted house seekers is to start writing a blog that details your ghostly experiences. Many paranormal aficionados are tech-savvy, so they often start their home search online. If you blog regularly, your home is much more likely to get noticed by your target market than by relying strictly on print advertising. Create a buzz about your property, and you’ll soon have a lineup of ghost-loving buyers at your doorstep.

Find out where these buyers like to hang out online. Post in paranormal related forums and advertise on radio programs that deal with the supernatural. Performing a Google search for terms like “paranormal radio” or “haunted real estate” should give you a few places to start.

When you have people viewing the home, be sure to have a brochure to available upon entering. Include a history of the home if you’re able to, and share a couple of your ghostly encounters. Your guests will be greatly intrigued, and may decide that the high jinks of a poltergeist are just what they’re looking for in a home!

By getting to know your target market, you can better appeal to their needs. Visit the websites they visit, listen to conspiracy radio programs like they do, and soon you’ll know just what to highlight in your ad and get yourself a genuine buyer.
